The Outer Limits 31 Days of Halloween Day 29

31 Days of Halloween
Day 29
I was thrilled to watch reruns of The Outer Limits Sci-Fi TV show back in the 1970’s. The original anthology series only ran from 1963-1965.
In the original series, some of the most chilling creatures were ants as big as your hand with big black eyes and faces. The Outer Limits also held me in suspense with the episode, “Little Girl Lost.” It focused on a little girl and her dog who vanished from her bedroom in the middle of the night. However, her parents heard her voice from the walls and her dog barking. Will they find her before she has no chance to return?
The beginning of the original shows also gave me the creeps – fun creeps! A monotone male voice which they called the Control Voice told us this:
There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image; make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to the outer limits.
The Outer Limits was cancelled in 1965 primarily due to declining ratings caused by a damaging time slot shift and network interference. Then the series began anew 1995-2002.
I'm very glad they brought this fun, scary Sci-Fi/Fantasy series back for a seven year run in 1995. Now both series are available on Amazon Prime.
