31 Days of Halloween with

The Kelly Society

Day 11

Greetings Halloween lovers!

I'm taking a break from my Bay of Darkness book characters hosting this October blog, so today, I am your host Author S.K. Andrews.

I saw Jaws the summer of 1975 when it came out as part of a 13 year old girls birthday party. The mother dropped us off at a big movie theatre in Costa Mesa, California. I had no idea what the movie was about, but soon discovered a classic spine-tingling film!

I told my parents about it immediately when I got home (no cell phones back then). Since we lived in Laguna Beach, CA, and they fished, scuba dived, and we happily visited the beach every weekend in summer they couldn't wait to see the movie. I went with them again and my mother bought a coke. Her round plastic lid was loose and when Ben Gardner's head popped out of the hull of his boat in that underwater footage with Richard Dreyfuss, her entire Coca-Cola spilled onto the lady sitting next to her. My mother rambled in breathy spurts, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry!" The lady replied just as breathless, "It's okay. It's okay!" The woman truly didn't care, she was so engrossed in the action.

That's the kind of movie Jaws is!
