31 Days of Halloween with the

Hudson Valley Witches

Day 19

Carolyn and Merlin here today. I'm Carolyn, server and co-owner of The Witch's Tavern, and Merlin is our bookkeeper and a wonderful artist. We are both fans of Bram Stoker and his iconic character Dracula. We've seen every vampire movie and TV show imaginable. Can't get enough.

Dracula was born from Bram Stoker’s creative and intelligent mind. It’s a haunting, terrifying tale of human courage, fear, and tragedy against one of the most powerful predators in horror fiction history in book form and film.

Who Bram Stoker was and what led him to write Dracula:

Bram Stoker drew inspiration for Dracula from a blend of Eastern European folklore, historical research on Vlad the Impaler, regional travel writing, and a seaside English town. He spent seven years reading, gathering notes, and shaping the Gothic masterpiece before publishing it in 1897.

Abraham Stoker was an Irish writer, barrister, literary critic, and theatre manager. He was the author of the Gothic horror novel Dracula and the creator of the fictional character Count Dracula. The work and its antagonist are regarded as milestones in the fields of Gothic and vampire literature.
