31 Days of Halloween with The Kelly Society Day 21 - Andy Harris
31 Days of Halloween with
The Kelly Society
Day 21
My name is Andy Harris. I’m a friend of Vivien’s and The Kelly Society. I am a sheriff in Half Moon Bay, and Vivien has worked with me several times. I trust her intuition and value her bravery, because the work she does is not for the faint of heart.
I told her the only thing I have to share is the tradition my daughter and I established three years ago. After her mother passed away, right around the corner was Halloween. I did the best I could to fill in the gap for the loss of her mother, but I needed to add something special. So, I looked up this recipe, and after examining Elaine's candy garnered from trick or treating, we made our spider marshmallow hot cocoa!
I’m spreading the recipe around this year so even more people can enjoy it.
Spider Marshmallow Hot Chocolate
6 marshmallows
48 Pretzel sticks
1 c. white chocolate, melted
1 tsp. coconut oil
18 Candy eyes
Hot chocolate, for serving
Directions:
1. Line a small baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a small bowl, microwave white chocolate in 30 second intervals on low until completely melted.
3. Dip 8 pretzels in the white chocolate and place on a baking sheet like spider legs, four on each side and meeting in the middle. Dip one side of the marshmallow in the white chocolate and place your three candy eyes in a line, using the white chocolate as glue. Dip the bottom of a marshmallow in the white chocolate and press into the pretzels where all of their ends meet, joining them. Repeat process with remaining ingredients. Place in the freezer to harden, 5-10 minutes.
4. Once hardened, remove from freezer. Serve with hot chocolate.
Have a very safe and sane Halloween everyone!
