Hi! My name is Marri and that’s a photo of me and my son Jacob on his very first Halloween! Yes, that was his first Trick or Treat ever. Of course, he’s dressed as Max from the classic children’s book Where the Wild Things Are. His bedroom décor reflected the book theme as well.

Less than two years later, our son Kash was born. That is him dressed as Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s one of his favorite characters! Now, the boys are five and three years old, but they still love Halloween!

Anyway, when I heard Vivien was doing this blog, I asked if I could add my story. She gave me the green light, so here it is.

One night about a year ago, I awoke to both my boys giggling in their bedroom. Slowly, I rose from my bed and tiptoed across the hall. The door was ajar and I saw a bright white light streaming out. I grabbed the doorknob and opened wide, glancing in the corner of the room. There, I saw a tall white figure and I could have sworn—a pair of wings! The next thing I knew, the vision was gone, but my boys ran up to me. “Mama, I saw an angel!” “Me too,” my younger one echoed. They weren’t scared, in fact, they delighted in what they witnessed.

I know this space is for Halloween stories, or things that go bump in the night. But I figured we can also use a story about what lights up the darkness as well.
