Freaky Friday: Paranormal Good Luck?

My dad told me a story which happened in the early 1950's. He was back east during winter and just boarded a train. As the train started off he chose to hang his thick long wool coat upon the rack above. when he lifted up his coat the train crashed into another train and the window shattered. He fell back with his coat on top of him. When people roused he got up and looked at his coat. Big shards of glass stuck out from the opposite side. If he had not hung up his coat at that exact time, he would have been severely cut or dead.

So, was that paranormal good luck? Is there such a thing? Or divine intervention?
